Degmor has raised the bar when it comes to indoor air sanitization.
Traditionally, cleaning for mold, bacteria, viruses or infectious organisms was conducted by surface cleaning and perhaps air filtration. Surface cleaning with a disinfectant has proven not very reliable at killing most of these pathogens. Mold, bacteria and viruses may be able to stay airborne for days, only to settle and re-contaminate wiped surfaces again. Degmor has taken the approach that to truly clean a room of these pathogens, one must clean all surfaces and sanitize the air; that is the only true way to ensure a clean and healthy environment.
Air sanitizing refers to the use of technologies that have the capabilities to destroy airborne microbes. Microbes may be in the form of bacteria cells, fungal (mold) spores and their fragments, as well as viruses. Sanitizing or high level disinfection requires that the system or systems utilized have the ability to quickly penetrate into the nucleus of a microbe and disrupt it’s ability to reproduce. In many cases a microbe is rendered dead due to the ability of the system to destroy the cell membrane of the pathogen.
For air sanitization to be effective the system utilized must be effective on contact. Both the fine particle activated Hydrogen Peroxide fog produced by our Reactive Hydroxyl Application machine, creating Hydroxyl Radicals, and our Ultra High Output Clean UV Ozone Generator, which creates Clean UV Ozone, can accomplish such requirements.
It should be noted that dead microbes do not disappear but will settle as inert particles to surface areas where they may be vacuumed. Such inert particles are no longer pathogenic to man.
The need for air sanitizing is usually twofold:
1) The elimination of VOC ‘s (Volatile Organic Compounds) which are usually foul smells caused by fire, organic chemicals, fuel spills, smoke, sewage, formaldehyde, etc.
2) The elimination of airborne health hazards; mold spores, fungi, allergens, dust mites, insect parts, rodent and pidgeon droppings, viruses i.e. H1N1 (Swine Flu) and bacteria i.e. MRSA, E. Coli, and Legionella (Legionaire’s Disease).
Hydroxyl Radicals and Clean UV Ozone are the second and third most potent oxidizers known to man. The first is Fluorine which is toxic. By using these air sanitizing methods, Degmor can assure you of a cleaner and healthier indoor environment.
