Project Management
As an environmental company, we view projects from a health & safety perspective. We are in compliance with Joint Commissions ICRA requirements as well as all relevant OSHA regulations. We provide environmental monitoring that measures baseline contaminant levels as well as clearance monitoring to insure and document the elimination of pathogens.
Degmor Project Managers bring over twenty years experience to the management of environmentally sensitive projects and our in house Ph.D microbiologist and clinical hygienist profile a unique team of scientists that ensure the success of each health care projects from ICRA to general disinfection
Healthcare facilities are mandated by the Joint Commision to adhere to many requirements that are focused on patient safety.
Included within the Joint Commissions requirements is strict adherence to ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment).
The American Society of Healthcare Engineers has defined the various measures required within the ICRA plan:
Why: Construction and renovation projects of all sizes carry known risks of increased patient infections due to the contractors lack of environmental engineering controls.
How: Surface and airborne bacteria and fungal spores are easily transported throughtout a facility by air currents, dust, water systems and contaminated materials. Patients with suppressed immune systems are prone to significant infections should these pathogens settle on contact surfaces in a patient room or be inhaled while airborne.
Controlling the health care environment during renovation or construction requires team members with documented environmental credentials who are trained in ICRA and the use of many engineering controls required to safeguard work areas and to prevent the release of infectious agents such as multi-drug resistant bacteria and Aspergillus spores.
TO comply with ICRA and guidelines established by ASHE and to dramatically reduce liabilities, a systematic environmental approach to establishing isolation barriers, negative pressure work areas, continuous monitoring and decontamination procedures is essential. Surveillance of airborne infectious agents by a highly skilled environmental company provides early detection and the ability to implement decontamination procedures before these pathogens reach patients and occupants.
An environmental company makes up critical components of the ICRA team that are otherwise not found in traditional construction companies.
At Degmor all staff follows ASHE guidelines in the environmental management of ICRA projects. We utilize the industrie’s most sophisticated engineering controls and decontamination systems. We assist our clients in adherence to ICRA and in the reduction of risk and liabilities.
